The Kirrish people are an ethnic group on the planet Naxarat. Prior to the planet's incorporation in the heptarchate, the Kirrish were oppressed by the ethnic Naxorian majority.
Cherrewin Yehan is ethnically Kirrish, and Zuhrovet Sikandaret is of mixed Naxorian and Kirrish heritage.
Language
The Kirrish language divides nouns into three genders: animate, inanimate of definite spatial extent (such as a pot), and inanimate of indefinite spatial extent (such as the sky or the concept of love). Gender is indicated by prefixes modifying verbs.
Folklore and Music
Kirrish folklore includes many stories about animals, including wolves, wolverines, and antelope. The all-terrain vehicles or "carts" favored by Kirrish bands also feature heavily.
Kirrish has a strong folk music tradition. The lyrics to one popular lullaby are:
- Hey, hey, hey, the wheel is on the axle,
- La, la, la, the axle spins around.
- Hey, hey, hey, the babies in the axle-cart,
- La, la, la, they make a squeaking sound.
