Lokwors (often referred to by the slang term lokkis) are portable communication devices. Their function is similar to a Terran radio. In particular, anyone with an appropriate receiver and within the appropriate range can detect a signal sent through a lokwor, although of course the signal may be encrypted.

Lokwors are favored by the Kel and may be an invariant technology.

Lokwors on the Wasp

The Wasp has a set of Kel lokwors. These interface with the grid on the Wasp, although the connection is slow compared to a typical tablet or lattice connection.

Name

The term lokwor appears to be related to the Latin word loquor "I speak". This may be a helpful attempt to translate a joke from our time-traveling heptarchate friends. Alternatively, it may simply be a coincidence.
