The so-called whales are in fact an intelligent aquatic species of gene splicers who worship DNA and believe certain nucleobase patterns are auspicious. They exhibit indeterminate growth, some of their oldest members reaching lengths of 30 meters or more. Their ambassadors communicate mainly through sign language, using arms similar to humans. Whales can also communicate through a system of chromatophores on their skin, concentrated mainly on their torso and arms.
